Hi, I’m Reineke, nice to meet you!
Some say I can be a bit of a chatterbox. But it’s just that I love meeting new people, especially when they come from different countries. This passion has brought me to where I am today.
As a little girl, I wanted to become a flight attendant. I dreamt of flying all over the world and discovering new destinations. I looked forward to holidays and took every opportunity to learn new languages.
This all changed when I was 16 and went on a school trip to Strasbourg to visit the European Parliament. I discovered a new world and decided then and there that I wanted to become a translator and interpreter.
After five exhilarating (and demanding) years at KU Leuven, I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Linguistics, a Master’s degree in Interpreting and a Postgraduate degree in Conference Interpreting. Finally a professional translator and conference interpreter, I started working as a freelance translator and interpreter with Dutch, English and Spanish.
A year later, I decided to leave cloudy Belgium for vibrant Valencia, Spain. And eight years later, I’m still here. I’ve been helping companies in Spain, Belgium and other parts of the world go global for the past ten years.
I founded Studio SpeakEasy (formerly, SpeakEasy Language & Communication) to help ambitious and committed companies like yours grow abroad. I’m convinced that companies can only succeed when they speak the same language as their clients. This means getting your website and marketing content translated and having an interpreter at your side at important events and meetings. That’s where I come in.

I love learning and am always looking for new professional challenges. That’s why I make plenty of time for professional development and recently added SEO translation to my skillset.
I’m a whizz in the kitchen, especially when it comes to desserts. My signature dish is my take on the Oreo cheesecake.
On weekends and even during the week, you’ll often find me at the padel club. I’ve been playing padel for five years. What can I say? I’m hooked.
When it comes to relaxing, I take long walks on the beach or go for a hike in the mountains. This simple pleasure does me a world of good.
I adore travel and have a long bucket list to get through. Bali, Peru (Machu Picchu!), Mexico and the United States are at the top of my list.
Since living in Spain, I’ve missed my weekly Belgian fries. As soon as I set foot in Belgium, I head straight out to get some!
