Steps of the translation process

Behind every translation, there is an entire translation process, from the first contact with the client to the delivery of the translation.

The translation process from A to Z

First contact

You send me an e-mail or call me with a potential translation project, upon which I’ll ask you to send me the text(s) to be translated. It’s important to get these texts to get an idea of how long and specialised it is. Based on that information, I’ll send you a quote and proposed deadline. As soon as you accept the quote, my team and I start translating.

Preparation

Before really diving into the translation, I’ll first ask you a couple of questions, such as “Who is your target audience (experts or laypeople)?”, “What is the intention of this translation?”, “Is this translation aimed at the Dutch or the Belgian market?”, “Do you have specific terminology we need to stick to?”. These questions give us an indication of the style we should use.

Translation

The translator (me or a colleague) makes a first translation, using reference texts (e.g. your own website, related websites). If we have questions about the content or terminology (ambiguities, doubts, unclear sentences etc.), we will ask you for clarification.

Note that your content will always be translated by a native speaker of the target language to ensure the highest quality. Here you can read why this is so important.

Revision

As soon as the translation is finished, an independent revisor (also a native speaker of the target language) will go through the translation to make last-minute corrections, if necessary. Errors can always happen, so a double check is no luxury at all. Thanks to the four-eye principle, we can guarantee the highest possible quality of your content.

Delivery

Once the translation and revision are done, we’ll send you the finished and proofread translation.
